Petoskey State Park Beach Access Project

Volunteers at Petoskey State Park BeachVolunteer, Faith, in her wheelchair on the ADA Walk system.Petoskey State Park is located on the north end of Little Traverse Bay.  The recreational area is known for it’s modern campground and breathtaking shoreline.  Thanks to community support, individuals who use wheelchairs are now able to independently access the water.

Disability Network worked in conjunction with the Petoskey State Park DNR and Petoskey locals to raise funds to purchase a Mobi Chair and a Brock Dock (a vinyl beach pathway) so people who use wheelchairs,  people who struggle with balance, as well as families who use strollers are able to easily get to the lake shore.  Together, the team raised $21,692 to reach their goal.

Thank you Pierce Family Charitable Foundation, Bear Creek Township, Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation, Petoskey Rotary Charities, Odawa Casino, Grandpa Shorter’s Gifts, Bay Winds Federal Credit Union, Robert & Norma Lyon, Ryan & Dessa Cosma King, La Senorita, Donald & Marjory Priest, and numerous other businesses, organizations, & individuals for helping us make Petoskey State Park Beach accessible to EVERYONE.
