We rely on our dedicated volunteers for so much of what we accomplish in our 17 county region.  From advocacy work and voicing our needs to legislators, to educating our community and mentoring individuals – YOU can make a difference.

Every gift of time and resources makes a HUGE difference in the lives of the people we serve.

We want YOU to join our volunteer team!  We’re always looking for dedicated volunteers to join our team and get involved.  Join us on Thursday, April 27, from 1 – 2:30 p.m. at our Traverse City office for our volunteer orientation.

You’ll learn about our mission, the different ways that you can be involved, how Centers for Independent Living were created, and a brief history of the disability movement.  Submit your volunteer application by filling out the form found below.

We welcome people of all abilities to become involved.

Ways YOU can help:

Matt building a ramp during "Day of Caring ".Access Team Member:  Survey businesses, public spaces, and special projects for accessibility.

BATA Buddy: Assist people with how to use and navigate the BATA Bus.

Board Membership: Provide oversight and help guide the policy and strategic development of Disability Network as we pursue our mission.

County Representative:  Attend local collaborative meetings as a DNNM representative in your community.  Advocate on behalf of individuals with disabilities.

Friend Development Committee: Enhance our fundraising and marketing efforts, write grants, and assist with coordinating fundraising opportunities.

Independent Living and Peer Support: Become a mentor or program assistant, visit isolated individuals and assist with daily living tasks.

Betsy - Access for EveryoneLIFE Assistant: Assist with teaching life skills to individuals in the LIFE (Learning Independence From Experience) program.

Office Assistant: Offer technical help, connect customers to resources, enter data, help with filing and mailings.

Program Committe:  Provide insight regarding how Disability Network can enhance programs to best service the needs of our community.

Speakers Bureau Member:  Act as a voice in the community to inform and educate the public about disability related issues.

Website/Social Media Assistant:  Assist with DNNM’s online presence by helping to create content for our website, newsletter and social channels.
